hey, i'm so glad you're here

I’m Maury Jo and am married to my husband of 25+ years. We have three children - Gracie, Isreal, Boston, who are all moved out of the house and living their best young adult lives. We have a passion for foster and adoption and we adopted our son when he was 15 who is from Nigeria.

My husband has been a football coach our entire marriage and it has been a joy to minister to the next generation through sports. We have students over weekly for family style dinners, allowing our kids to be a part of my husband's world and this opportunity for the gospel.

The outdoors and creation echo God's truths and beauty in my life and I can't help but find myself outside all of the time. Whether running and doing triathlons or working with our horses and other animals, all of it refreshes my soul.

about

my BACKGROUND

WHERE I'VE BEEN AND WHAT I'VE GOTTEN TO BE A PART OF

I went to Baylor University and received my Bachelors in Elementary Education/P.E and am also a certified Biblical Counselor, working with kids and families for over 30 years. After graduating from Baylor, I taught school for one year and then spent the next 13 years at Heartlight Ministries - a residential Christian counseling center. While there I oversaw the residential program, counselors, and I personally counseled the residents and families as well.

I am passionate about Truth and Jesus. Through my own sexual abuse as a young child I bought into many lies, yet through counseling and prayer - bringing Jesus into those moments - I experienced true freedom in Christ.
I have spent the last few decades delving into counseling and supporting others in various ways. I have received training in abuse, trauma, conflict resolution, and I hold my Licensed Child Care Administrator. I have spent over a decade serving as the Recovery Minister at the Flower Mound Campus of The Village Church. I also hold a certificate in biblical counseling from The Association of Biblical Counselors (Equipped to Counsel) and I have completed Ministry Safe. Additionally, I served on the board for Young Life when in Wichita Falls and I currently serve on the board for Six One Ministries and Blue Haven Ranch.
